I obviously cannot share with you everything the Bible has to offer. As you get older you will have to and get to read it yourself and glean from it what God wants you to learn. But, as I remind myself of God's truths, I want to share them with you. What I write is as much for me as it is for you.
Genesis 1- God provides us with Structure...
God created the world in a very organized and structured way. We often fight structure believing our own ways to be better. However, the truth is we thrive in structure. God ordered our world in a wonderful way setting up the heavens and the earth and providing food and water before creating living creatures. He made no mistakes in His perfect creation. As we go about our days we need to remember that God's order is good and we need to put structure and order in our own lives. Order is not meant to constrain us, but to give us peace and comfort in the provision of structure.
Genesis 2- God Rests and Tells Us to Rest too...
I am one of the last people on earth who should talk about resting, this is an area that I need to work on. I need to follow God's example and later His command for taking a true Sabbath rest. Resting gives a moment of physical and emotional relief from the day (week) and should allow us to focus on our creator, our God. I know if I truly rested more I would be a better wife, mother, friend, etc. I encourage you, as I encourage myself, to rest. Not a lazy rest, but rest that allows you to be replenished by the Lord so that you may take up your challenges again with praise in your heart and peace in your mind that you can and will accomplish that which the Lord wants you to do. God rested and told us to rest- we need to do it. I will start this week.
