"It is a burnt offering, an offering made by fire, an aroma pleasing to the Lord."
Leviticus 1:17b
I am not an expert on Leviticus nor on the offerings described in the rest of the old testament. But, I do know that offerings done in the right way were pleasing to the Lord. Today we do not make grain offerings and burnt offerings from our flocks- when Christ died for us on the cross He was the ultimate and final atonement for our sins. Because of Christ's atonement we do not have to offer a blood sacrifice any longer, but can still have the heart of offering for our Lord. What can I offer my God that would be a pleasing aroma? My heart, my time, my submission and willingness to do whatever it is He is asking of me. I need to be aware, and I urge you to be the same- be aware of what God is calling you to do. Have a heart of submission and keep your eyes open for the areas that God is calling you to offer to Him. We want to be an "aroma pleasing to the Lord." He paid the ultimate sacrifice for us and our love for Him will be displayed in offering ourselves back to Him. How could we not fall at His feet in thanksgiving, offering ourselves to the one who died for us? Offer yourself, and offer all.
