Genesis 39-40:Joseph waits and the Lord is with him

"But while Joseph was there in the prison, the Lord was with him,"
"The chief cupbearer, however, did not remember Joseph, he forgot him."

Two statements in my reading today stuck out to me.  The first was that the Lord was with Joseph even while he was in prison.  We will all go through very difficult times in our lives, but the Lord will be with us if we are seeking him.  Joseph had ever human reason to turn from the Lord.  He had been despised by his brothers, sold into slavery, lied about to his master, and sent to prison.  But he did not use this as an opportunity for self pity, he continued to see the Lord , and the Lord was with him.
The second thing that stood out was that the chief cupbearer forgot Joseph's kindness to him.  In the midst of our trials it may seem as though we are forgotten, and we may be by our enemies, or even family and friends.  But that does not mean God has forgotten.  When it seems like we are forgotten, God is still at work.  Though his divine plan may take days, months, or even years, He has not forgotten.  The bakers forgetfullnes was used for purpose in Gods plan for Joseph's restoration.  We cannot and should not push God's timing, for even though we may not understand it, and we may feel we have been forgotten, His timing is divine, and though we may not be waiting to interpret Pharoah's dream, God may be waiting on the time of something else in His divine plan for us and ultimately His kingdom.
