Exodus 21-24: God's Laws

"Do not let them live in your land, or they will cause you to sin against me, because the worship of their gods will certainly be a snare to you."

God was very specific to the Israelites about how to love and honor God and that involved not letting those who did not worship God live in their land.  He gave them very specific promises that He would fulfill if they followed through.  We need to take heed of this same warning.  We should not allow ourselves to be in an environment that is going to become a snare to us or that will cause us to sin against God.  This environment might not be the same for each of us, but the principle is the same.  Flee temptation, build a hedge around yourself, do not let it come near you because it will be a snare.  God knew then and He knows now, we humanly cannot resist.  But with God, we can.  If we flee to the Lord, if He is our hedge of protection, we will be able to resist the snare that will take us from our God.
